Why The Internet Is A Pro For The Human Race?

Few would dispute that the internet is one of the most impactful phenomena on the face of this planet today. Globally, people have been connected to their loved ones using the internet. As of now, more than five billion people use the internet. Of these five billion people, most belong to the youth, meaning that the impact of the internet can only be expected to increase. Alongside, the number of devices connected to the internet has exceeded a whopping 35 billion. We can predict that this figure will also grow as more and more smart devices like Amazon Alexa and Google Home pop up as the years pass on.

As the impact of the internet increases, so does the amount of discussion taking place on it. For so many in the world, a regular topic of discussion is determining which scientist contributed most to the creation of the internet. Another section of the population spends their time having discourses about the best internet service provider in the country. Yet another part of the human populace likes to have more practical discussions, such as the ones about the pros and cons of the internet. If you belong to the latter group, we bring great news to you! In this article, we will be detailing the reasons why we believe the internet brings more to the table than it takes out.

Long Distance Professional Connections

For many in the world, the coronavirus meant that their offices were shut down. In this situation, the importance of reliable yet very affordable internet services like the ones you get from Xfinity internet plans was realized. To stay connected with colleagues, people made extensive use of online apps such as Skype, Zoom, and Google Workspace, formerly known as G-Suite. This connection with coworkers is not only essential to getting work done but also to keep the company spirit alive.

Long Distance Personal Connections

The internet has not only impacted people’s personal lives; it has also severely affected how people in the world interact with one another on a personal level. Just look at how we used to communicate before the internet. Hand-written letters! It is not difficult to perceive the sheer amount of progress we have made since that time. We can now send texts, pictures, and even videos instantly to our friends and family using instant messengers like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. Not only that but we can also play games with our loved ones over long distances. After all, games are one of the best ways to bond with people!

In all honesty, the internet has changed the way we say goodbyes to people. Remember the times when we used to say goodbye to our college friends in a way that we were never going to hear from one another again. Well, those times are gone now. We get to see them every day after graduation through their Instagram stories!

The Voice of The Oppressed

Let us be honest; we would not have known anything about what Russians think of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine if it wasn’t for the internet. Every television network has been blocked by the Russian government from showing any dissenting voices in the country. Another good example of the internet giving voice to the voiceless is that of the Arab spring. Millions of people were able to organize protests all thanks to social media platforms such as Facebook. All this social media usage has been only made possible by the internet.

Learning

Needless to say, the internet has allowed many around the world to learn new things. This statement was especially true during the times of Covid when so many schools were shut down due to social distancing restrictions. Apps like Khan Academy helped a lot of kids to learn when teachers were not there to help them. In the case the teachers were there to help them, credit must be given to the internet as it was the network of networks that enabled these teachers to talk with their students via Zoom or Skype.

There was much learning happening on the internet even before coronavirus rocked the world. Just an example of it is people using Duolingo to learn a foreign language or performing home repairs using instructions from Instagram Reels or TikTok videos. Indeed, students have been using YouTube videos to understand their course material better ever since the online video sharing platform was invented.

Wrapping Up

Hopefully, this piece of writing has helped you understand the advantages of the internet.
