Of course, Must de Cartier saw several variations of the dial during its journey, but in this case, I will focus on the first model from 1977. The case is similar to the Vintage Must. The two vertical sidebars with significantly more rounded edges remain true to the original. Same case is applied to case dial. The minute hand, Roman numerals and of course Cartier’s signature spade hands embellish the latest concept. The quartz movement is also something both models have in common. However, it shows more notable changes than similarities. First, the gold-plated case was replaced in favor of the stainless-steel case measuring 33.7 × 25.5 × 6.60 mm. Then the ivory dial and Must de Cartier emblem fade into oblivion. As a result, I feel like it’s more of a new twist on a Tank Solo than an homage to Must de Cartier. But perhaps merging both legacy models into a new package is a conscious move.
